"Monologues meets a Mexican Waterfall"

oil 24" x 32" unframed

Inspired by an evening at the Moore Theater in Seattle to see the "Vagina Monologues" and the inspiration from a fantastic photo that I took while hiking one day in Vallarta.  We hiked all the way up to this dam that was made by hand with the river stones.  The way the walls of the ravine lay, the small cave at the bottom and the various rockery were juxtaposed reminded me and everyone I've shown the picture to of the view of the inside of a woman's thighs.  In the height of my excitement over seeing the show and the longing to paint the inspiration from Mexico I let go and just got abstract.  I framed it in old Montana fence wood that I had found that summer.  It has a fabulous old yellow paint still left on it which really works with this piece.  Hanging from the upper left corner of the frame is an original rusty hook (close up of hook) which seems to drip the paint down the front of the painting.  D.ita
