"Estas en Paraiso, Sayulita"
Print on archival canvas 8" x 10" winter 2002
This is a manipulated photo that I took on my first visit to Sayulita. My daughter Stella and her friends were taking a nap on the beach and I discovered this tiny little cemetery up above the beach. The sun was slanting at just the right angle and I am still awed by the glow on the statue of Jesus ( J pronounced like an "H" ) and the palm tree behind. I very much prefer this idea of Jesus with his arms wide open and seemingly inviting you to Paraiso. My daughter Stella and her friend Erica moved to Sayulita only a few months later. My intention is to take my two younger children there in the next few years and home school them there for a year. Class schedule: surfing 101, Spanish for beginners, arts and crafts, drum making and playing and learning how to make the perfect Tamale. D.ita
